Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Theft & Corruption at YC Msg# 1005960

Certainly POS systems should be examined, as part of a broad forensic audit but not as the sole board response.
BTW, did anyone in your family receive a recent settlement with OPA as a result of under reporting of YC banquet revenue Brian brought to light? If so, maybe you should be thanking him. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't know. Do you? Yet didn't the same happen when someone in the kitchen was made manager? Didn't Townsend obtain experience working under two different Food & Beverage Managers at the Yacht Club over a three-year or longer period? I really don't. I DO know that that kind of promotion is an extremely large leap. Consider: He was a Banquet manager with what could charitably be described as moderate levels of success to go along with an aggressively mediocre job performance. The idea that he would get promoted from that to YC GM, then promoted from that position to overseeing all Food and Beverage operations in OPA Land in the space of a few months is beyond unreasonable, hence my question. He was barely qualified for the job that he had (he didn't return phone calls from patrons/bands, his banquet bookings suffered from year-to-year, etc.) Why would an employee like that get a promotion? Twice? Further, if what I'm gathering from the other hot topic is correct, and he's the guy that got that absurd severance, why in the heck did that happen? My take? Nothing so sinister as you perhaps may believe. I think the POS is just an easy target for the board to address and act like it is doing something for the least amount of money. You're almost certainly correct. But they should really, really look at the POS systems. My information indicates the contract or agreement or whatever you call it was not for a lump sum payment, rather for a payout weekly over the 12 months separation terms. Yeah. I meant to say "definitely NOT a lump sum payment," but I'm all thumbs today, and my forum-sarcasm-kung-fu is a bit rusty these days. Ocean Pines...always a thrill ride. |
