Thanks Slobodan.
OPA should obtain a copy of the 2009 legislation to keep for reference. At this point the most important thing for the board to know is that contrary to what Director Jacobs said, the County cannot take away our money. OPA’s impact funds can only be changed or eliminated by an act of the Maryland Legislature. .... and also the money can only be spent on public infrastructure. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This is the part of the casino funds history where I blow my own horn and the horns of 17 others – we are perhaps the sole reason OPA now receives about $300,000 a year. Initially, I created a group called Citizens for Ocean Pines Equity (C.O.P.E.). I called 17 individuals in the community who I thought would influence our local legislators and asked them to become members of C.O.P.E. Every one of the 17 agreed to be on the committee Joe, Thank You and 17 other homeowners who decided to do something about what was obviously not a shining moment in Board’s leadership. For newcomers like myself it is good to have the actual history on this topic. kind regards, Slobodan |
