| Seat belts took off somewhere in the mid fiftys. Volvo was the first to install them as std. equip. The actor Janes Dean was one of the reasons seat belt business really got started. He totaled his Porsche and was killed. Probably could have survived if seat belts had been available. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: year 1968 wasn't a law to wear belts. I was more interested if seat belts were even available then. I remember installing them in our 1960 Austin Healy as an after market and "think" they came standard with my 1966 Olds Cutlass but if they did were the type that just went across ones lap. |
