Nearly 40 years ago while living in Annapolis, I waded into Spa Creek on a hot day at a gathering.I had a long surface scrape on the top of my foot- no big deal. Read in the paper a couple days later there had been a sewage spill that weekend. As the weeks went by that scrape turned disgusting. I ended up at the Dr of Infectious Diseases. More weeks went by and even the culture was ‘unknown ‘. It landed me in the hospital on Izoniazide( a tb prevention drug) and rifanpin( general antibacterial antibiotic) Ivs for a few days that didn’t even cure it! After months I finally did some holistic treatments and good ole praying. It finally dried up. But you are certainly right about a small cut. You just never know.. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Most likely, the pollution has increased due to the heavy rains. BUT, it won't be tested again until next Thursday. Doesn't sound like a very good plan. The main concern with polluted water is the risk of contact to an open wound. Possibly a scratch that one is not even aware of. I'm sure accidentally swallowing it isnt good either. Or even wiping your nose, eyes, mouth with a wet hand. To be continued, I'm sure! |
