Joe:
To date the MCBP has constructed two major filtration projects, the one at the Bishopville dam being one. Ocean Pines has been working with them on the oyster cages which have been effective. The Bay Days at Ocean Pines has gone a long way in helping to educate prop owners in how to help the water quality. Ocean Pines and MCBP is currently working together on improving drainage which will eventually reach the bay. There was a great deal of time and effort devoted in successfully fighting a proposed CAFO in Showell. The Environment & Natural Assets Advisory is currently working with MCBP and ACT to plant vegetation which aids in filtration. The truth be told the Saint Martin river is in bad shape. The good news is it seems that with the help of the community it is now at least holding its own. Unfortunately A major source of the pollution comes from Delaware. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: to help monitor and improve the water quality of our surrounding water ways. What are some of the things contemplated to improve water quality? |
