The water is still going to go the same place it is now. We will be looking to control the water by releasing it before heavy storms with the weir. Two of the culverts being replaced are being done so with concrete and the other is going from a 15” to an 18” poly pipe. Based upon analyses, this slight pipe size increase reduces the frequency of storm runoff overtopping Sandyhook Rd, while still adequately utilizing the available storage within its upstream swale. All of these culverts need to be replaced regardless of this project. This project is to help improve stormwater runoff (not fix it) and help tremendously with the water quality. We aren’t adding any more water than what flows down now, we are just trying to control it so it doesn’t bombard peoples homes. Also one big piece we were doing before was installing a new culvert under Beauchamp Road at ivy lane which has nothing to do with Bainbridge pond but would have needed the man made pond at the old golf course to take on that water. Our previous project was going to make improvements for around 800 homes where our new project will make improvements for around 370 homes. So if the possibility arises in the future where we can add an additional place for stormwater to go, we can add more culverts in that area (such as Ivy lane). |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Where will the water go? Can our expert engineer on this project answer that question? In fact, as it now stands we have no way now or in the future to divert more water from OP Banbridge area to the bay. |
