Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: A Questionable Alliance Msg# 1116382

Colby, Diller’s group is not selling Girl Scout Cookies.
“I am going to hold to myself my opinion on how I feel OP is run.“ That is rather ironic, considering recent events. Not to mention you now support a group whose founder says OPA is a dictatorship. Transparency is important but for Diller to suggest the board hold no private meetings is ridiculous. I am still at a total loss as to why you want to get this involved in OPA politics at this time or even involved in this public discussion. Diller brought you into it with her Gazette interview and I think it is obvious to any reader that there is more to the “alliance” than a little technical support as you originally wrote. You won a major public relations war with OPA. Take the victory and move on to Captain’s Cove. Getting involved in OPA politics is no-win situation.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: “Why should you, at this point, be supporting any OPA political group trying to change the board? Just curious. You are obviously not a disinterested bystander and are not even an association member.” I do support the group. As I support the forum. The progress. The Bayside Gazette. MDCB. My Women’s devotional group. Girl Scout Cookies...I could go on. As far as anyone getting even, I don’t see this group as wanting to get even. I don’t see this groups goal as changing the board, I do see this group as wanting honest transparency and I see that as a good thing. A smart guy I know once said “Transparency rarely causes problems. A lack of transparency frequently causes problems." And you‘re right. I am not an association member. As you know I worked and was heavily invested for 7 years as a FT employee and 7 years prior to that as a water aerobics teacher and I was an association member prior to moving to Berlin in 2015. I still CARE for the association and the community as well as several of the team still in place. Unfortunately when I owned a home, I didn’t pay attention to who was running to represent me as a homeowner so YES I do feel that is important. People need to get involved. I agree they are not the only homeowners who care. You’re not in that group and I know you care. I am going to hold to myself my opinion on how I feel OP is run. |
