Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: A Questionable Alliance Msg# 1116472

Communications. When was the last time you got a text msgs from OPA? I've been here 2 years.
OPA communicates with the membership via press releases, weekly email newsletters, town hall meetings, a website, etc. Not answering email questions. I assume you mean from the board. If so, I understand the frustration. However, have you tried emailing the info@oceanpines.org address recently announced as on to use for questions? We don't yet know what the board perceives as its dysfunction or how they plan to deal with it...I notice it's in the Mar 20 minutes. I don't think the board believes it is dysfunctional. That is almost solely a Colette Horn issue. Same Colette who gave us the ridiculous B-08 board ethics nonsense. Of course, Doug Parks and Tom Janasek are using the Colby situation to their political advantage. People are hearing from Worcester county when they go to get their STR permits, for example, what a mess it is. I heard similar when I went to get a copy of my plat fom the county. People recommend against buying here; go to De instead. If Worcester County employees are telling people what you say they are, those employees need to be reprimanded or fired. You may be new here, but there has been a certain level of resentment against Ocean Pines from those outside Ocean Pines since the day it opened. This is nothing new. Unfortunate, but true. It's okay to also discuss the GM succession plan in other forums. Absolutely. There's a tele-meeting tonight. Tele-meeting for what? Will you be there in a productive way? Interesting question with obvious implication. I have lived in Ocean Pines full-time for over 30 years. I attended many board meetings prior to 2004. I sued the Worcester County Sanitary Commission back in 1992 or so and recovered nearly one million for the ratepayers in Ocean Pines. In 2004 I started this forum after reading in a local paper that the board was thinking about starting one and it would be costly and maybe operational in a year. I created this one the next day. Since 2004, over more than 15 years, I attended EVERY board meeting until the pandemic last year. In most of those meetings, I provided public comments. I don't need anyone questioning whether my participation as an association member is productive or not. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Communications. When was the last time you got a text msgs from OPA? I've been here 2 years. Never. Not answering email questions. Or in one case even acknowledging receipt. Having NO idea where the leaf truck is..how many times I re-raked my yard. We don't yet know what the board perceives as its dysfunction or how they plan to deal with it...I notice it's in the Mar 20 minutes. I'm sure you are aware of far more issues over the years than I am. Image has a LOT more to do with the current and past boards than Colby. People are hearing from Worcester county when they go to get their STR permits, for example, what a mess it is. I heard similar when I went to get a copy of my plat fom the county. People recommend against buying here; go to De instead. I haven't applied for any committee. Medical reasons. It's okay to also discuss the GM succession plan in other forums. If the Board has the succession plan or anything else on their agenda, the community can also discuss it. Would you rather people complain after everything is done as seems to be the case now? After just one tele-meeting, I haven't seen anything of concern. It may have been prompted by Colby's resignation but I'll count that as something good coming from it. There's a tele-meeting tonight. Will you be there in a productive way? |
