Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Phillips v Perrone Msg# 1117257

Those “several people” in my opinion, were two employees who also spent time with the GM outside of work and believed him that I was trying to smear him and get rid of him. The GM was also one of those employees. But honestly Joe, I have no idea why they would say that. I never saw anyone but the team I worked with every day.
They left out the other employees who shared that they felt I was targeted along with examples of why they felt that way. As I stated, Esther stopped “mentoring” me in Dec 2019. So stuart was not running then. And the mentoring was offered to me as a “training tool”. I am focused on CC and the great opportunity, but I also will answer on stuff when asked. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Why did you need mentoring? And then there is the item in the lawyer report saying this with regard to the time leading up to the last board election: "Several members of the management team, however, expressed concerns that Ms. Phillips may have been involved directly or indirectly with OPA members efforts to undermine the General Manager leading up to the last election of the Board of Directors. No direct evidence corroborated the concerns raised. The circumstantial evidence was insufficient to find that Ms. Phillips worked to undermine the General Manager........ The uncertainty surrounding whether a new Board would retain Mr. Viola seems to have fostered some of the suspicion and discord amongst staff. The outcome of the election appeared to have been a calming influence on the management team." Some of your fellow department heads were apparently concerned that you were involved in some effort related to the election and possibly removing the GM. Why would they think such a thing? Interestingly, while Esther Diller was mentoring you, unknown to association members, her husband Stuart Lakernick was a board candidate last year. Employees need to stay out of OPA politics. Anyway, my suggestion/advice, for whatever it is worth, is to forget about Ocean Pines politics and focus on the wonderful opportunity you have in Captains Cove. |
