I'd suggest you've identified a great example of how social correctness watchdogs too often are --carrying issues to extremes.      Seems there's too often -- give an inch, soon they'll take a mile 

And the general public has reacted by creating surging sales of the Dr Seusse books.   Both Barnes & Noble and Amazon reported that surge.  Dr Seusse books represented 9 out of the 10 biggest sellers on both of those book vendors records after this story developed.

An Indication that much of the general public is backing those traditional Dr Seusse favorites, despite their critics objections.  Yet those social critics are unrelenting. 

Where's the next windmill to be tilted?? Is too much attention to trivia weakening their cause??
