Screw ups?
The decision to change election contractor at double the cost was done in secret. Ballots were supposed to be mailed 7/11 and we don't know why they weren't and there are still residents that don't have their ballot. The ballot packet does not mention a Dropbox. The security of ballots refers to them being sent to an Island 348 square foot office where the committee, you and the corporate secretary don't have access to. Unless you are all flying out there on OPA's dime. M-06 was changed after signing the contract with Election Trust because viewing in person requires a 3000 mile plane ride and a ferry ride. And now for the first time in OPA history (I believe) our names are on the ballots return envelopes. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Sherrie - I would like to respond to this as the election committee liaison. What screw up are you referring? Ballots have and are being received by our residents, the ballot box in the PD is secure just like ever other year if residents wish to drop them off. As far as names on the return envelope that is to show your ballot was received back by ET. Nothing on the ballot that you received refers to your name and / or how you voted. You interpretation of events is inaccurate. The election committee has worked very hard on this election process and should be recognized for volunteering on this difficult task. As you know, any new process has minor hiccups; this is no more no less than and will be worked out. i am sure the election committee would appreciate your support during this time of transition.
