Thank you Joe for the informative answer on Riddle farms trucking over their refuse as well as getting water from OP as S. OP lacks water pressure while I'm guessing Riddle Farms is quite in the pink!
Now WHAT can we do about this disgraceful situation? It's like residents of OP have virtually NO SAY in any of this. I feel so used along w/ Ocean Pines. Thanks!

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Am I speaking out of turn or what?! Not at all. What the County has done with the OPA water and sewage facility borders on a disgrace if one looks at what Worcester County told the people of Ocean Pines when various expansions and extensions of the system were funded at certain levels. Riddle Farms was doing a daily dumping of their waste over to our development - is that still an ongoing thing or what? Yes. Worcester County still has not made the Riddle Farms sewage treatment plant fully functional. After what? Two years or more? And now,S.OP (where my house is located) is donating water to Riddle Farms and two electric pumps conked out. Yep. I've confirmed Riddle Farms is now receiving water from OPA wells. Supposedly, Riddle Farms is compensating the Ocean Pines Area system for the water. Of interest - Riddle Farms takes water from a deep aquifer (perhaps the same one as Ocean City) and it requires very expensive treatment for removal of iron and other substances. The cost to treat water for drinking is almost as much as the cost to treat raw sewage. OP wells are in the shallower Pleistocene aquifer with excellent water that requires very little treatment. We may be saving money for the folks at Riddle Farms. I also question the county news release referencing "Due to critically low water tables." Compared to what? We had rather wet weather until just a few weeks ago. I am not buying the critically low remark this early in the warmer months without some totally independent testing. |
