Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Dump Internet Voting Msg# 1209725

I personally do like and use the internet voting option when it has been offered. I also have not mailed a ballot in years. If I used a paper ballot I used the drop box option. I also find it interesting that when it's mentioned that the majority of voters still choose paper ballots than that's the option that we are told to use. The majority of voters at the 2023 Annual Voters mtg also said they didn't want electronic signs and yet we have 1 now with a supposed 4 more planned? Are we truly listening to the majority of the homeowners who vote or doing just what a few prefer? Guess it depends on the topic. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I agree with your observations. I did not address all that as my only attention in the commentary was to the vendor's own code that we must "trust" without any means to verify in a recount. We cannot verify. Hacking, etc is always a potential issue, as you point out - even some politically passionate OPA member - and there are a number of those. As for the website security of the vendor, we have no idea about that either. Look, MK Elections is very likely running a safe operation. Regardless, nothing but paper can be counted, recounted, and recounted, and verified. We know this because the Piatti-chaired committee told us ,and one or more board members told us it was the best committee in recent years. |
