That study from April 2016 looks to be as useless as these surveys OPA wastes time and effort on.

For starters, they picked regular oceanfront home renters, obviously a crowd of rather well off folks.

Then they did the survey by handing the participants doctored images for their opinion. The images were manipulated to show hundreds of offshore turbines beginning at 5 miles out. Then they injected a question about how much less would they expect to pay in rent for each distance to turbines scenario.

"A study by economists at North Carolina State University finds that most people are unwilling to rent vacation homes that have a view of offshore wind turbines – and that those who will rent expect steep rental discounts unless the turbines are more than eight miles offshore."

By golly Marty, if the Ocean City turbines are 10 miles out, there should be almost no economic impact according to the NC State survey you reference.

Seriously, the survey is useless and any academic involved should be embarrassed.
