NC State did another study that told us offshore wind farms would lower electric costs.
And those kinds of claims of lowering electric costs have been shown to be false -- as presented in earlier messages here. Heavy subsidies add to costs unaccounted for, as well as maintaining back up power for when the wind isn't blowing at threshold speeds Costs of the the offshore wind industry have been going thru the roof. Local evidence of that is the cancellation of the Orsted project here, months ago, due to rising costs. Also multiple offshore wind contracts for New York were cancelled for similar reasons of rising costs. Yet the earlier survey was not disputed by several groups, per Wolf's earlier message. Authorities accepting the opinion study included: • The Assateague Coastal Trust Seems there's plenty of credibility added by that range of official groups accepting the NC opinion study. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks, Ken. I remain 100% convinced that NC State survey was worthless junk. When you start by showing a few hundred renters of expensive beach front homes photoshopped pictures of the turbines from their beach chair view and then ask how much less they would pay if those turbines were actually there, the result is as expected. NC State did another study that told us offshore wind farms would lower electric costs. What the heck - all done with taxpayer money. |
