Frankly, 25 years seems a rather short time compared to a power plant.
Yes Double or triple that lifetime for conventional and nuclear plants is often achieved. The cited link appears outdated in several ways: < miles offshore is now 10;7 miles, earlier 20 miles and 26 miles were talked about < And a meteorological tower is planned approximately 8.7 nautical miles from Ocean City’s shoreline < possible onshore locations like Fenwick Island were considered earlier, for the necessary onshore power substation, but Indian River is now the target for the undersea cables to terminate.. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My research found the following: June 7, 2024 The wind energy generated by US Wind's MarWin offshore wind project, located 20 miles off the coast of Ocean City, Maryland, is intended to power Maryland homes. The project is expected to be completed in 2024 and will have 22 turbines that can generate up to 300 megawatts of energy, enough to power over 92,000 homes. The turbines are expected to have an operational life expectancy of more than 25 years. Maryland signs offshore wind energy agreement (wbaltv.com) Frankly, 25 years seems a rather short time compared to a power plant. |
