The problem many of us have is the size of the container that Republic dropped off. I have had their recycle container that is picked up by the "one man truck" for the past few years. It fits fine in my garage. However this new can is much bigger and clearly will not allow enough room for the car to get by. What I would like is a trash container that is the same size as the recycle container. Quite a few others that I spoke with recently feel the same way. It's way too big and my suspicion is next year we'll be back to once a week pickups. Gotta pay for those new trucks... | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In hotter Charleston SC they pick up one time a week. The cost of labor and fuel is what it’s all about. Get used to it. I am surprised that it isn’t that way now with the number of part time residents in this community I thought the same when I moved to the Pines 20+ years ago from a community that had once a week trash pickup and every other week recycle. I would suspect that is pretty much the standard around the country. As for the trash schedule one has to realize that converting to once a week pickup could lead to trash sitting at the curb more often throughout the community due to renters leaving, for instance, on a Tuesday in the Northside where PU is Monday and the trash would then sit at the curb for a week if PU was changed to once a week. It certainly is an issue that merits discussion but one I think is a little more complicated than it appears on first glance.
