Joe,
I am not sure how a public hearing prior to the vote would have made any difference (Though overall that is an excellent suggestion). From what you said, the contract said nothing about using only Republic supplied cans, and the decision to switch to these gigantic cans was a decision made by Republic without consulting the Board or the GM (Perhaps). What needs to happen now is for the Board to get in front of this situation and have Bruce Bright get in touch with Republic and work something out with Republic to the satisfaction of the association members, and to let the members know immediately that action is being taken to address these concerns. Hopefully the Board President is on top of the situation and taking appropriate steps. I’m not sure the town hall is the best option, but it’s something. Vivian |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Seems like the never consult the residents! Must have been a quick deal and a waste of our money! A tad unfair. The trash contract was discussed at board meetings before a vote by the eientire Board of Directors to approve. All reported in local ppaers. That said, in the future, perhaps before voting on such contracts the board should hold a public hearing prior to a vote on the contract. |
