We have a 4000 gallon cistern filled with rain water. We don't drink it or cook with it, just for showers and doing dishes, we bring up gallon jugs of water from home. As far as our well is concerned, we capped it years ago because it's contaminated with iron oxide from mining operations many years ago, even turns glass brown!
