Joe:
May I quote Paul Harvey ”now you know the rest of the story”? Over the six (6) years since the Slobodan proposed referendum our golf operations has cost our membership over One Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,684,548.00) in losses. This doesn’t include the cost of the new irrigation system being installed as we speak. How’s that for “disastrous results“? Had the OPA accepted the offer from Freeman Golf for Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) we would be well ahead financially and still have our Robert Trent Jones golf course. “Now you know the rest of the story”! For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I am not even sure I remember the subject of that proposed referendum but if a referendum passes by a majority vote of our membership what “disastrous results” could be suffered? Thanks for asking. Well, Trendic wanted to send the cart barn and the new clubhouse to referendum. Given the likely feelings of association members at that time about losses at the golf course and talk of turning it into a park, such a referendum might well have failed, thus preventing the incredible renaissance in golf profits to the point where it may make a profit this year AFTER depreciation. You remember those big loss years, when you would have sold the entire course to someone for a million or two.
