Reasonable minds can differ on judgment calls like this one. Management's position is understandable, and this is within their purview. The liability concern, not dispositive by itself, is a matter of possible risk identified by me. Risk exists elsewhere and in other activities, as you point out, but are managed. New ideas will be evaluated case by case, in good faith, keeping the best interests of OPA in mind. No one is seeking a point counter point debate here. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think that drinking to excess for normal (not alcoholics) people is more likely to happen in a party environment, especially one at night. Family Fun Night is at night and alcohol is served. Slips and falls tend to happen more frequently in low light conditions especially where wet surfaces might not be so easily discerned. Totally agree, especially at Family Fun Night with kids jumping in the YC pool producing wet pool deck surfaces. Feel free to hit me with any statistics or facts you might find to dispute them. I'll give you observations. On a Saturday or Sunday during the summer, parents at the Yacht Club pool have drinks lined up ---- LINED UP --- on the pool edge late in the afternoon while their kids doggie paddle in the shallow end. |
