Vivian, you need to go back to Miller ‘s original proposal. That called for adult singles only to meet greet and enjoy cocktails and sunset at the OPA Yacht Club Swimming pool.
Yes, cocktails are served on the deck at the yacht club restaurant and children are there . However, that operation is run by an independent contractor and not as a special event by the Ocean Pines association so I don’t think your distinction holds water. I thought Bruce Bright made that distinction clear. Frankly, I don’t care if OPA does the event or not but if OPA does do the event at the pool as an OPA operation, it must be open to people of all ages. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The Sunsets and Cocktails event suggested by th Aquatics Committee was not restricted to adults only. It was proposed as an event that would appeal more strongly to adults but families with children were NOT excluded. My guess is this was just an event that operations staff and Board did not support. Lets get real, cocktails are served on the pool deck all the time regardless of the fact that children are present. |
