You are 110% correct, get Mr Bright on the case NOW! I never really understood why we let anybody get involved in our sewage plant but that's history now! I get the feeling that the county views OP as a convenient ATM machine dedicated to it's personal use? I would love to see the abuse by the county stopped but I have a feeling that's never gonna happen? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Residents need to be informed and get involved to have their voices heard. While, community involvement is important, much of what is going on boils down to legal issues. I would urge the board to get Bruce Bright involved as quickly as possible, and give him the authority to hire any needed experts in the field of water and sewage. The distribution of losses is are just one aspect of this overall issue. For example, at the Tuesday commissioners meeting, we heard that a 180 town house project is proposed for land abutting OPA at the traffic light on 589 into the new AGH building. What will the developer pay to buy into the system and fairly compensate those who bought and paid for the extreme excess of EDU connections currently available. There was much discussion of all the new development coming on 589 corridor and how to handle the sewage treatment. Not once was the "Ocean Pines Service Area" mentioned, but clearly the intent is to have the OP plant handle all that development. Has Riddle Farms paid a fair amount for trucking its sewage to the OP plant for treatment over many years? Many questions. OPA needs legal protections. Any Commissioners majority cannot always be believed, if history is any indication. Then County Commissiosner Tom Cetola, perhaps then the president, as well as Commissioner Boggs declared the County would allow no further development on Route 589 untill Maryland widened that state highway. That was over a decade ago. How has that worked out? Then there was former Worcester County Director of Public Works John Tustin proclaining at a public hearing years ago that an additional one million gallons of so of sewaage tretment capability at the OP plant was needed ONLY to serve the lots within the OPA subdivision. That, sadly, has proven to be false. |
