Some items frm the article: Marty Clarke -- "..cards will be mailed to nonresident property owners asking for signatures for a petition to referendum to stop the project and force officials to provide accurate information about new, higher costs. " "Stachurski said despite opposition, the board’s attorney, Joe Moore, has said that the referendum authorized the board to spend $3.9 million for construction costs, not for the total cost of the project. He called it the “bricks and mortar” cost only." According to the article the petition states the referendum authorizing the Ocean Pines board to spend $3.9 million for the center was vague and incomplete and doesn’t “truly inform the membership of the true cost.” It demands that the OPA immediately cease construction and introduce a new referendum for the project “with more complete and accurate information.” |
