I sent the following to OPA Board:

Today there is yet another series of damaging Dan Stachurski quotes in Ocean City Today.

Item from OC Today: “Stachurski said despite opposition, the board’s attorney, Joe Moore, has said that the referendum authorized the board to spend $3.9 million for construction costs, not for the total cost of the project. He called it the ‘bricks and mortar’ cost only.”

The statement above insults the intelligence of every lot owner who voted in the referendum, as it did the first time he used this subterfuge when telling the board about the $6.2 million cost of the original proposal.

Is there a single director who actually believes the referendum sent out to lot owners was a referendum with an anticipated cost for “bricks and mortars” only, and not the entire project? Not a single director who voted to place the project on referendum can say that was the case without being intellectually dishonest. Take it further – any director who said that was the case would be lying. Stachurski himself is on record prior to the referendum explaining what the anticipated $3.9 million included, and it was certainly not just the “bricks and mortar.” Every board member knows this.

The OC Today article also quotes Stachurski as saying if the project is stopped it could result in a $500 per lot special assessment. That amounts to $4 million, and is absolutely absurd.

Stachurski is making the board, and this community, look like fools.
