Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Community Center Contract Msg# 387787

Hoax and forgery are strong words, and carry strong emotional appeal. They also carry a connotation of an intent to deceive. I'm not convinced that was the case. Not sure how I would categorize what transpired. Marvin indicated his request and resultant letter was noting out of the ordinary. He may well be correct. Had the content of the letter not been a political football, we would never have heard another thing about this, whether Esham signed it or an association employee signed Esham's name. Perhaps this is, at the least, a good lesson for the builder's association and will prevent such incidents in the future. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe: I agree that you sum it up well. That said, I would still call the letter a hoax and a forgery. If I had called the ESBIA as a past director and dictated a letter in support of stopping the new community center from the president of that association without his knowledge what would you call it?
