Joe: If the letter was not written to "deceive" the reader, why didn't Marvin sign his own name to it? Perhaps instead of playing down his behaviour why don't you ask Marvin who provoked him to write the forgery? Was it a board member? Why did he do it? Marty

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hoax and forgery are strong words, and carry strong emotional appeal. They also carry a connotation of an intent to deceive. I'm not convinced that was the case. Not sure how I would categorize what transpired. Marvin indicated his request and resultant letter was noting out of the ordinary. He may well be correct. Had the content of the letter not been a political football, we would never have heard another thing about this, whether Esham signed it or an association employee signed Esham's name. Perhaps this is, at the least, a good lesson for the builder's association and will prevent such incidents in the future. |
