Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Community Center Contract Msg# 388148

mr. malone i am not a negative person simply because i object to the way the community center was handled and the ultimate cost - having escalated from $3.9 million to over $6 million. we need a new referendum but even then i think the almightly board would reject it. i can't believe they have the power to do that. your post to me was surely negative and just plain surly. i too, want the best for ocean pines and a lot of people are in agreement with me regarding the slight of hand way in which this whole thing was handled and the misinformation from the majority of the board of directors. considering our low reserves and only guesses about how much money the property to be sold to finance the c.c., i don't live in a dream world. i live in the world of reality. this doesn't have anything to do with ANYONE'S EGO. even joe. r. has a limit on what we should spend on the c.c. - although i don't think he has put his "limit" on it. yes, we need meeting space but for heaven's sake, this project is not free. it will cost millions of dollars to build it. vision is one thing. realilty is another. -aurore |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: What you want is in dream world. What we can get now with all costs having increased is reality. While DR NO lives on in hopes of defeating the CC effort to satisfy his ego, he obvoiusly cares little for the current and future needs of this community with his constant prating about "free meeting space". The pragmatic view re: the increased costs for the CC still has to be that as a community we simply don't have a facility that offers meeting rooms, a place for public meetings, a place for games and exercise, etc etc. There will always be the DR No's who are against any project that will cost any $$$. These people are essentially negative and have no capacioty for vision. Are you in that group? |
