Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Community Center Contract Msg# 389744

Al: We can disagree. Why is everyone using the number 850? Somewhere around 850 members is the minimum needed according to our by laws. My guess is the number will be much higher. BTW the numbers for the last referendum were 2,560 for and 2,346 against. That was for a $3.9 million community center, not a $5.4 million center. Do you believe that a referendum for the new numbers, product and schedule would pass now? Me either. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Must disagree that it would be borderline criminal behavior if the BOD did not stop all work on the CC on receipt of a petition bearing 850+/- signatures. Remember that many more than that number voted AGAINST the CC at an anticipated cost of 3.9M, but they lost the referendum. It is almost a given that at least 850 of those members would sign the petition for a new referendum, That does not forecast what the results of the referendum would be, therefore, IMHO, the BOD is not engaging in criminal conduct to continue work on the project pending the results of the referendum. |
