I would never have a pool in my own backyard because they're a lot of cost and effort to maintain. An indoor public pool is a nice amenity but costly to the community. Aren't there any swim teams in the area that could use it? I did not endorse the pool. A gym, a real gym that is, yes! But then again I'm a gym rat! Rick

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: No.........in all seriousness.........build it and they will come. That's what we heard about the indoor pool. They haven't come and the facility looks to cost association members in excess of $250,000 in losses when including the profit pools used to make. Where does it stop? Bowling alley? Pool room? Whatever, regardless of cost or operational loss? I will say this, any idea such as you propose should be cost out, capital and operational costs, and submitted to lot owners for referendum. If the lot owners vote to have a fitness center built and operated by OPA despite any cost or operational loss, so be it. |
