Well, I suppose OPA can go through yet another referendum to build a new Community Center. The first was over 12 years ago. Maybe within the next 12 years some board will actually get a building up... but don't count on it. I also believe the residents of Ocean Pines have spoken for a NEW Community Center, not a refurbishment of the existing facility. Indeed they did, when they were led to believe the new building was to be free. When they realized it was not to be free they voted overwhelmingly against it. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, While I have been in the Community Hall only twice, I do not find it to be a very attractive or well designed venue. I understand a "miracle makeover" could make the existing structually sound facility more attractive and useful, but I believe the current and future users would be better served by a new facility architected to fit the intended community uses (keeping in mind the principle "form follows function"). I also believe the residents of Ocean Pines have spoken for a NEW Community Center, not a refurbishment of the existing facility. Furthermore, being structually sound, should not be the only or most relevant criteria in deciding the course to take for an improved Community Center.
