Joe, I cannot agree with your assertion that a majority of folks felt the New Community Center would be "free". I think the folks in Ocean Pines deserve a little more credit that that. I believe the second vote on the New Community Center was more a referendum on the Board of Directors handling and mismanagement of the project as it was approved, and not a vote against a New Community Center project. I am hopeful the current Board of Directors has the skill and the will to resolve the Community Center issue. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well, I suppose OPA can go through yet another referendum to build a new Community Center. The first was over 12 years ago. Maybe within the next 12 years some board will actually get a building up... but don't count on it. I also believe the residents of Ocean Pines have spoken for a NEW Community Center, not a refurbishment of the existing facility. Indeed they did, when they were led to believe the new building was to be free. When they realized it was not to be free they voted overwhelmingly against it. |
