In my view, you have it exactly right. OPA collected $41K more in income than expenses related to the operation of its business amenities. Where did the $500,000 operational deficit come from? Certainly one can play with numbers until the cows come home. The fact remains that the YC and golf are losing substantial dollars in the hundreds of thousands (I won't mention an amount since it will provide Marty another opportunity to take pot shots). White-washing losses by looking at certain number combinations that might include the gouging fees for parking but not losses for things like the Community Hall doesn't reduce those substantial losses. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Robert: Let me weigh in here. In my view, you have it exactly right. OPA collected $41K more in income than expenses related to the operation of its business amenities. Joe (and others) continue to only count some of the business amenities... IMHO to make their point. I could pick a different set and make a different point. That is why I have advocated aggregating ALL of the business amenities to get an accurate figure on what they cost or return in total. That said... it is always possible to do better... so the YC, Golf, and Acquatics should be subjected to rigorous individual "operation reviews". These would be aimed at understanding and improving performance of these specific amenities. Jeff Knepper |
