Gosh Marty, isn't improved food and service to attract customers even on the table any more? Joe, If you don't go to the yacht club, how do you know that the food and service isn't improved ? Just wondering, I see people at the YC come back week after week and have smiling faces and are happy to spend their money there. We took our family to Sunday brunch and the wait staff could not have been more pleasent. We sat outside and and arrived by boat which the grandkids loved coming to eat by water. On Monday, my son took his wife and 2 children to lunch at the YC and I asked why he went back, his reply was , "kids liked eating by the water and and you told me that there was lack of support in the community so we decided to spend our money there instead of somewhere else. So, the kids don't live here and my wife and I don't live here full time but wanting to support the stuff in the community you live in should be given some consideration when it comes to spending our entertainment dollars that in some fashion end up helping out the free stuff , such as concerts in the park, the July 4th celebrations at the sports core pool , skate park, etc. etc. No matter how you slice it and dice it, the amount of money that is collected for our assessments and what is spent in our various amentities go into the coffers in Ocean Pines. You can break it down by lot owner, or line item , golf course , parking, YC, we are all responsible for the losses or benefit from the profits attributed to the amentities that are profitable. We elected the BOD and I believe the GM and the board are doing a good job. I commend the board for the time they contribute and their thick hides that withstand all the slings and arrows that are thrown at them. In closing, hey guys and gals, get the fishhooks out of your pockets and spend a little money in your community by supporting your ameniites, you may be surprised. Bill

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Like it or not we, the membership, has to either pick up the loss generated by the operation on top of the capital expenses or shut it down and still have to pay for the capital cost as well as the on going maintenance which can cost more in an unused building as it cost us now. Gosh Marty, isn't improved food and service to attract customers even on the table any more? I feel zero obligation to spend my money at any particular place. When it comes to obligation, association members have every right to expect proper management from the board and GM, not some lame litany about how members should go and buy beer whether they like the food or not. Has it come down to blaming association members for the failure of management to attract paying customers? |
