You might consider calling Pete and asking him about your concerns. I'm certain our paths will cross during Mr. Gomsak's campaign and provide an opportunity to talk. I certainly haven't come to any conclusions about my choices at this point...he seems like a good person and I believe he is sincere in his desire to see OPA continue as a great community. While we are talking financial matters, based on the answers given at the forum, how do you size up the abilities of the candidates to understand reserves, the budget, etc.? There is no doubt in my mind that both Mr. Gomsak and Mr. Thompson have the greatest horsepower when it comes to understanding financial matters. That said...the world doesn't always revolve around counting beans. There is now and has been advice and expertise available to the board in regard to financial matters...but it didn't always translate into sound decision making. What I am concerned about is the ability to recognize when strict adherence to General Accounting Procedures doesn't necessarily mesh with what is right and reasonable for the people who ultimately fork over the cash. Sound decision making by a board member involves more than a well balanced spreadsheet. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Bob, I can understand and appreciate your concerns. You might consider calling Pete and asking him about your concerns. While we are talking financial matters, based on the answers given at the forum, how do you size up the abilities of the candidates to understand reserves, the budget, etc.? Ted |
