Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Seacrets Lease 4/15/2010 Msg# 739020

From what I saw in the OPA files, it looks like there were about 50 parking spaces OPA could use on the OPA property. At some point the lease was changed to allow a "drive" across the property connecting a Seacrets parking lot to the north with their primary property south of OPA's. Net result -- a reduction of available spaces on OPA to about 32. I'd have to go back over and look at the documents again to come up with precise numbers. Joe, It doesn't matter WHERE the encroachment is....they have used our property! They put a long driveway on it. They need the driveway....I will agree, but they need to give us the spaces that the driveway took away from us. They have plenty of room during the day. It is about PARKING SPACE....SQUARE FOOTAGE.....PLACES TO PUT A CAR. You don't think the reduction from 50 to 32 spaces is a big deal???? I do. ( but of course, you say you never go to the beach....so you don't give darn.) I didn't read all the stuff you wrote about taxes, and whatever else made my eyes glaze over....because I don't understand it. I am a simple housewife. I know about CHILDREN, and PARKING AT THE BEACH. That is pretty BASIC STUFF. If you had ever ridden around with a carload of kids..looking for a place to put your car.......YOU MIGHT GET IT! I surely am glad that I don't have to pay $100 ...or more for a Beach Parking Placard. Nancy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The ENCROACHMENT!!!!! That is really the only thing that matters to those who want to park at the beach and have paid big bucks for a PARKING PLACARD! While OPA does indeed tout to association members that the lease allows our use of the lot during the day, it sure doesn't make clear we now have fewer spaces to use on our own property as a result of the lease...... something you would not know except for this forum and my "ad nauseum" research and assuming my reading of the documents is correct. However, you need to stop discussing this lease. Don't you know it is a done deal and unimportant. |
