One final observation... The numbers always lag the change so even if he had fixed it all in June/July... that would not yet be reflected in the numbers..
Well, if sales are a measure of success in customer satisfaction (if not success in financial management of the operation), July numbers for the Yacht Club indicate the second highest sales in six years. Last year was the highest. Management will tout this increased sales but suggest it needs to get a better handle on cost of sales. Management has been saying this about cost of sales for well over six months. Unfortunately, while July sales this year were somewhat less that July sales last year, the cost of labor went up about $12,000 for the month. The net operations bottom line for July this year shows a profit of $18,021, compared with a $35,106 profit last year. The problem is management keeps saying it needs to get a better handle on cost of sales, but when will that happen? As it now stands we continue to lose more money as sales increase. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I do see positive changes... but give me a break. David has been there for 2.5 months. Even by your counting (with which I disagree) it took 2 years to screw it up. I just do not understand the thinking that says we can take a serious problem, hire someone with credentials to fix it and then complain that in his 2.5 months on the job here he has not completely fixed it. The point of the 40 year remark is to acknowledge that we have very long memories here and will make fixing anything tough. I have heard a number of people complain about the bad food and then proudly proclaim that they have "not set foot in the place" since the 1990s. One final observation... The numbers always lag the change so even if he had fixed it all in June/July... that would not yet be reflected in the numbers.. Jeff |
