When we purchased our OP abode several years ago we automatically assumed the assessment would rise a bit each year. Wear and tear on old amenities, rising costs due to INFLATION, etc. If you notice, your property taxes, water and sewer bills, tv, and most other things are generally increasing in cost, over time. At the time, I could play golf and so on but age has taken its toll. It is pretty difficult to find a nicer place to live and, it is fairly inexpensive to live here. I do know one couple who moved away because of the cost of gas to heat their oversize house.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: When I bought the home in 1987, we would use the Beach club, going there with our then 5 year old. We would purchase a swim club membership and parking pass. However as the association fees increased as did memberships and the parking fee, our perspective became too high a cost for not a significant value. Nonetheless, we kept our home. Neither my wife nor I ever had any interest in golf, tennis or owning a boat. Nonetheless, we continue to keep our home there. Thanks for asking, and maybe you are right, wrong place at this time. |
