Once one gets into that kind of money (and $200,000 for paving), seems it would make sense to perhaps look as well into the cost of a new structure.
I agree, if they move ahead with a new structure. I believe that the new bathrooms as proposed some years ago was an above ground separate structure. That could be a first step that could be integrated into an overall replacement or renovation. (If done in small steps they can even bypass a referendum) Incidently, discounting a new structure, I see no benefit to paving the parking lot. Some years ago there was scenario that there was an investment group that was interested in developing the Beach Club property. The idea was presented by one or two Board members. It was to include a residential building that would give OPA additional assessments and it would include a new restaurant and Beach Club parking. I don't know if that is even feasible or practical at this time. However, I believe it should be investigated as part of any major Beach Club project. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think the original plan called for replacement, above ground, for around $300,000 to $350,000. It makes little sense to me to spend $300,000 or so to put new baths in front of an old Beach Club. Once one gets into that kind of money (and $200,000 for paving), seems it would make sense to perhaps look as well into the cost of a new structure. |
