Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 879591

Got it that the by laws permit it. I am permitted to make a right turn on red but if I don't look what is coming from the left it is reckless. Decisions made in the absence of facts generally make for poor outcomes and regret. I sense that the petition is really motivated about shutting down golf, to reduce the budget to reduce the assessment. It is an emotional issue that must be weighed by an intelligent look at all the facts as best as can be established and this petition has not established all the facts in voting on a weighty matter as this. So I will leave at this...in my opinion the petition is ill advised as written. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In my opinion decisions made without the full examination of the big picture are reckless. It is too early for a referendum without more fact gathering. Even if we agree, the fact is the by-laws allow association members to petition to referendum, and that is what Steen said he would do if the course is not leased out. I take Steen at his word. I also have little confidence in our board/GM to independently and objectively fully examine the issue. As for the results of any referendum to go to open space, I have no idea how it would turn out. |
