Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 880384

Not true depends upon how restrictive ref is written.
John, surely you are kidding us. You are a former director. The referendum can only consist of a single yes/no question. Moreover, residents only think they control OPA. They don't. All residents have a right to do is sue OPA if any four board members do something they don't like. Once the election is over, association members are nearly 100% at the mercy of their elected board members, and generally speaking, association members don't have a clue who they elected. Then there is the situation like the year you ran when there were two openings and two candidates. What were the choices for association members who did vote? That is surely not the fault of the candidates, but again points out how little control association members have.... and I'm not interested in this golf context about some discussion of how more association members should run.... and certainly thank those who do run. As for piles of cash sitting around, most every board has done an excellent job of spending anything not nailed down. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not true depends upon how restrictive ref is written. Now of course it could be like social security and Medicare where Congress changed the game plan when they saw a pile of cash sitting around or like our current Administration when one was elected because many wanted change but few asked how he envision changed. all i am saying is be careful what we ask for. As we might just get it and there could be significant costs associated with it |
