Section 4: General Subject: Wood Duck Park Disappears Msg# 911702

Hi Nancy,
As usual you are way out in front of everyone else. I guess everyone knows that Wood Duck Park was NOT intended to be there at all. It was supposed to be dredged, and those houses would have been on a canal. In the prior 77 responses no body mentioned the root cause of the problem. I have a ten year old OPA map, the so called park is clearly shown but there is no access of any type shown as with the other parks in OP nor is there an obvious possible location for one. I assume EPA would never allow the canal to be completed so maybe some of my sillier suggestions might actually be the solution. Sell it to the surrounding property owners buy out one of the properties, tear it down and make access or live with a lousy situation. I can understand the stink faces now. Frank |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Frank, It is good that Robert posted a link to my old post. I just didn't feel like writing all that again. I put the number of the post before I saw that he had done so. Now that you can see where to go...Google the aerial view of the place, and it will be pretty easy to make out the spot. The driveway of the house is actually ON the very front of the easement and there is a little ditch with some utilities in it...so you must go on the driveway to get back there. I guess everyone knows that Wood Duck Park was NOT intended to be there at all. It was supposed to be dredged, and those houses would have been on a canal. Steen was running just barely ahead of the EPA with his development and was not able to finish in time. There is a bulkhead behind the house where the easement is and you can see from the aeiral view that they had started to dredge there. There is water about half way into their lot. It looks like there some were scoops taken out before they were stopped. ("Watertown Park" was the same situation. It is bulkheaded up to a certain point on both sides. Boise Cascade was a wee bit late also...and got caught.) Nancy |
