Section 4: General Subject: Wood Duck Park Disappears Msg# 912051

In the prior 77 responses no body mentioned the root cause of the problem. I have a ten year old OPA map, the so called park is clearly shown but there is no access of any type shown as with the other parks in OP nor is there an obvious possible location for one.
If you look at the actual subdivision plats recorded with the County you will see the five easements for access to Wood Duck Park. All this has been discussed here in the past. Those plats can also be viewed at OPA Public Works. I assume EPA would never allow the canal to be completed so maybe some of my sillier suggestions might actually be the solution. EPA was established on December 2, 1970. I'm not sure about the EPA's direct involvement in dredging in the Ocean Pines subdivision. This was under the Corps of Engineers, but maybe there was EPA involvement as well. Some research would be required. Also, I don't think Steen had anything to do with dredging operations. Boise was up against a deadline to end dredging. They were working in Manklin Creek when the deadline came and had to stop before completing what they had originally intended to do. As a result, Boston Drive, for example, never was bullheaded. Anyway, absolutely none of this has anything to do with the status of Wood Duck Park. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Nancy, As usual you are way out in front of everyone else. I guess everyone knows that Wood Duck Park was NOT intended to be there at all. It was supposed to be dredged, and those houses would have been on a canal. In the prior 77 responses no body mentioned the root cause of the problem. Sell it to the surrounding property owners buy out one of the properties, tear it down and make access or live with a lousy situation. I can understand the stink faces now. Frank |
