Jack:
First one must take into account that there are very few roads in our subdivision that meet any county or state specifications. I personally believe the 10 year road and drainage maintenance plan was a well thought out solution that was working well. Back prior to 2011 OPA was receiving approximately $500,000 a year from the State from the pass through road gas tax. That all but ended in 2012. Last year we received less then $46,000. Our roads are depreciated for the 2015-2016 budget at $314,068. Depreciation numbers are historically on the low side. The Casino dollars alone are not going to be enough to fund our road and drainage maintenance. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In my view the road paving can be maintained with the casino funds of about $250,000 per year assuming a 15-year resurfacing program, up from the Dan Stachurski level of 10-years. That was set because so much money was coming in we had to repave every 10 years to spend all the money. During the Stachurski years I complained that we were paving roads that did not need paving and was ignored. Currently I am seeing road surface problems that may indicate that we are falling behind in our road paving efforts. Especially a break down of the road edge in many areas. Hopefully the Casino monies will be enough to pave our deteriorating roads. |
