Mr. Reynold’s: first let me apologize to you for my former comment and while you may not accept this public apology, I sincerely hope you will.My point about Governance is that while I respect and applaud Volunteerism the stark reality is that our HOA has evolved, to include the regulatory framework in which an HOA operates. As owners, I suggest our interests would best be served by professional management of the Pines and not by the hap-hazard organizational structure that exists today and the acrimonious relationship between the GM and Board. The existing structure simply does not serve our best interests, which is what was meant by my comment of no longer willing to paying for good intentions. An organism evolves within its environment and so must our organizational structure evolve to accommodate the vastly changing needs of our HOA.
The role of the Board should be the development of the Strategic plan or vision for the Pines, with input from the membership, and the day-to-day operations of this multi-million dollar organization should be placed in the hands of peoples that have the requisite experiential background to manage and implement the strategic objectives in the most efficient and professional manner. The Board may have final oversight however the day-to-day operations should be left to the professionals. People can disagree however they can do so with civility, which was lacking on my part. Thank you for permitting me to express my views in a more cogent and civil manner and I sincerely apologize for my comment. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ted, all this nonsense about the GM not knowing what was going on is just that. Nonsense. Back on January 8th some 31 association members attended a special board meeting about golf management. Most were golfers. Eight made public comments. One of those making public comments was Pete Gomsak. All spoke in favor of keeping Casper. After public comments the board went into closed session. Thompson was there. Then on February 14th, in response to a Jack Collins statement where he said he wanted transparency in the process, the board held a public hearing and all three of the companies under consideration made presentations; golfers and other association members had an opportunity to ask them questions. Thompson was there. Then on February 20th the board met in open session, took public comments, and then moved to private session to choose a golf management company. I was there. No golfers or others were. I made public comments suggesting the board consider keeping Casper for another year. Thompson was there. I would think Thompson prepared the RFP that resulted in the management firms under discussion. To repeat -- suggesting that Bob Thompson was not involved is pure nonsense. Thompson, on the contrary, was doing everything in his power to try and keep Casper on the payroll. He seemed almost obsessed with the notion, something I could not quite understand. He lost, and now it is sour grapes in a very public way. |
