Yep. YC management did try to have servers wandering around the crowd to get drinks or other items for those enjoying the free bands. The practice stopped as the servers could not generate enough business to cover their cost... and this is with perhaps hundreds of people on that patio. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have expressed my concerns to the board and have so far gotten two responses...one pro, one con. One concern that I expressed is the fact that at the yacht club given the lower price point and quicker service this will be in direct competition with the food service employees who rely on gratuities. Professional and competent staff will be harder to recruit and retain...thus making existing service problems worse. The law of unintended consequences. In the end it is optional, not necessary. Not where capital dollars should be spent. |
