Probably because Mr. Herrick and Mr. Stevens had both discussed the motion made by Mr. Herrick prior to the meeting and they were the only two to have a written copy of the motion.
And what is wrong with Stevens and Herrick discussing a motion to amend Terry's motion before the meeting? Gosh, for that matter a recent edition of the Independent had a photo of Terry and Renaud having lunch at Taylors. Terry plays Renaud like a violin. Mr. Stevens understands that passing the motion will result in a much lower cost for acquiring four dedicated pickleball courts and additional paddleball courts. Knowing this, it would have been silly for Stevens and Collins to vote against the motion. Afraid you lost me. The passed Herrick motion that came AFTER Terry's motion passed is useless. It just instructs the GM to look into something. Terry's motion authorized the GM to go spend $150,000 to essentially do all the site work, storm drainage, moving playground, etc. so that eight new pickleball courts can be built in the future... maybe getting a board go ahead to build them before the next election. Whether the final Herrick motion as amended by Terry passed or not is totally immaterial. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think what Dave was getting at is why pass your second motion (a standalone one) that tells the GM to look into using existing tennis courts for pickleball courts and adding a paddleball court. Why indeed. Probably because Mr. Herrick and Mr. Stevens had both discussed the motion made by Mr. Herrick prior to the meeting and they were the only two to have a written copy of the motion. Mr. Stevens understands that passing the motion will result in a much lower cost for acquiring four dedicated pickleball courts and additional paddleball courts. Knowing this, it would have been silly for Stevens and Collins to vote against the motion. |
