Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Money is No Object Msg# 945599

Terry removed the pickleball courts from his motion because the board is now looking into utilizing existing tennis courts and converting them to dedicated pickleball court use.
What? If that was the case why did Terry's motion include the storm drainage mitigation work for eight pickleball courts, perhaps the largest cost in the $150,000? Terry made his motion without even knowing that a another counter motion would be proposed, so the quoted sentence above makes no sense. Had Herrick's motion passed FIRST, you might have a point. But that is not what happened. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Terry's motion specified the work to be done included all the work as specified by the GM in his presentation for Phase One to the board last week for $207,000. Terry then specified that the pickleball courts had been removed from the $207,000 to get down to $150,000.... Correct. Terry removed the pickleball courts from his motion because the board is now looking into utilizing existing tennis courts and converting them to dedicated pickleball court use. This will accomplish what pickleball originally wanted (dedicated outside courts in the Manklin Sports Complex) and significantly reduce the cost of providing dedicated courts for pickleball. Terry even misleads at the beginning of stating his motion when he says: "This has nothing to do with pickleball courts..." When he made his motion, having removed pickleball courts from the motion, the motion then had nothing to do with pickleball courts. |
