Again, let's go to the Employee Handbook:
"Two paid rest periods of 15 minutes each should be permitted each day. The schedule for these breaks should depend completely on the needs of each office. Rest periods are considered time worked, and employees will receive compensation for such periods. Employees that work less than a 7 hour day should check with their department about lunch breaks and rest periods." I would say that since the rest periods are considered "time worked" that the rest periods must be taken without leaving the facility or work area, and without clocking out and then back. Clocking out starts an unpaid time period. I expect this is the issue that is really the one OPA intended to address.... more or less the issue my original source indicated, but the GM failed to explain. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Dan, you can’t have a paid break and leave a job site. What would happen if you got hurt, or had a accident but were not even on the job site? A insurance nightmare ! |
