I remember pork chops, roast beef, steak and chicken, I honestly never remember any kind of seafood. They did have fried rabbit one Saturday, unfortunately it happened to be the same Saturday we had a big rabbit hunt to clear them out from around the runway. We killed two pickup trucks full which the firefighters soaked with JP-4 and burned but there was no way in hell the cooks could convince anybody that they weren't serving the rabbits we had killed that morning. To this day I have never had roast beef gravy as good as what we got in the mess hall, I would get a big bowl and a loaf of bread.....heaven on earth. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We had all the moose meat and potatoes we could eat. Maine is famous for its lobsters of course but we never saw one. Lobster country was a 4 hour drive South. We were so far North that we had perpetual clearance to enter Canadian airspace on take off since by the time we had gear up, we were Canadian. |
